17th August
Today marks my departure to Taiwan, where I might have the opportunity to work in a
Skateshop as well. Even though this hasn’t been my initial plan the opportunity came
through friends in Okinawa which have visited Taiwan before which have connected me
with someone who works in a Skateshop in Taipei. I am excited for this opportunity if it
all falls into place as this could give me the opportunity to work in both countries and I
could even draw a comparison of the different cultures. If it wouldn’t work out I would
just continue as planned with my Interviews which is also exciting as I have only one
experienced Taiwans culture before when I went for an exchange with my parents for
three months. This was back in 2014 though and I sadly don’t remember much to be
honest. Nevertheless I am excited how this journey continues.
First Impression:
After landing in Taiwan, I was surprised by the amazing structure as well as order. I had
expected that after being in Japan I would be spoiled when it comes to organization and
structure but everything seemed to work just as good as in Japan if not even better. The
process of getting a SIM card for example was so much easier and eIicient than in
Japan, which gave me a nice feeling for the start of the stay in Taiwan.
